Sonic Kinesthetic Forest: A Multi-Sensory Ecology Project for Young Dancers

Panel presentation for: dance and the Child: international (daCi) Virtual Conference July 10-15, 2022. Conference Theme: Dancing into Communities. Collaboration with Dr. Eleni-Ira Panourgia, sound artist (Université Gustave Eiffel, Paris, France) and Todd Buttenham, videographer (Bald Ego Productions Inc)

This panel will describe the process of bringing a multi-disciplinary, multi-sensory performance project called Sonic Kinesthetic Forest to fruition with members of the Guelph Youth Dance Company. The project emerges from the question: How can ecological empathy and agency be fostered among pre-teens and teenagers using integrative experiences of landscape design, sound art, and dance choreography?
